Our Location on River Ramganga (W)

The operational base of MOPPL is on the banks of River Ramganga-West in district Almora, Uttarakhand.

The natural waters of the river Ramganga-West nourishing the produce and influencing the climate of our villages find its origin in the Dudhatoli forests of the Kumaon & Garhwal Himalayas. It is the journey through trees of Oak, Fir, Rhododendron and Pine that gives birth to this rainfed perennial river. The waters not only serve as a lifeline to small holder farmers of the agriculturally prosperous valley of the Ramganga river but also flow into the folklores, songs and economy of the region. Once known for its Mahaseer fish variety, the river aids the village settlements on its banks to follow an agro-ecological lifestyle. It further travels to the forests in the foothills of Corbett Tiger Reserve as its lifeline and finally joins the great Ganges in the plains of Uttar Pradesh.
